Part Nine

Both women's eyes darted towards the door. 'Right on time,' Kristina thought. She looked at a stricken Alexis. It was obvious that she was taken aback by the unexpected voice of Sonny speaking her name.

"Alexis?" His voice beamed through the other side of the door.

Alexis stared at the closed door. 'Move your legs and open the door, ' She instructed herself. But somehow her feet just wouldn't follow her orders and were glued to the ground.

"Well, are you going to open the door or am I?" Kristina inquired motioning to the door. She simply shrugged by the lack of response from Alexis and called out, "Um, she's here Sonny, hold on a sec." She walked her way towards Alexis and gave her a nudge.

Alexis grabbed the doorknob and swung the door open. She was greeted by those damn dimples that made her go weak on the knees. "Sonny." She flashed him her own.

"Alexis." He nodded, looked pass her and gave Kristina a devious grin.

Alexis watched in curiosity the exchange that transpired between her sister and her ex-client/landlord/lover.

"Am I interrupting something?" he asked.

"No, actually, why don't you come in."

Sonny walked pass Alexis and came face-to-face with Kristina. She gave him a nod, raised her eyebrow and a quick smile. She was giddier than usual, something Sonny thought was virtually impossible. It made him laugh.

Alexis shut the door and turned around to a giggling Sonny. "Excuse me?" she asked. "What's so funny?" She looked at her sister who was biting her lip trying to contain her laughter and then back to Sonny.

"It's, um, an inside joke," Kristina managed to utter, still biting on her bottom lip.

Sonny's smile widened as he watched Kristina do the 'Alexis trademark quirk' Little things like biting on their bottom lips made Sonny aware of just how much the two sisters were alike. The thought of Jason and Kristina hooking up suddenly crossed his mind. Nothing would make him happier than seeing his best friend happy with the sister of the woman he loved. And Kristina, surely she wouldn't pass up an opportunity with a guy like Jason, I mean, she deserves better than Ashton, that's for sure. Ashton, the lucky bastard, having his way with these two incredible women. How Ashton managed to get the affection of these two princesses is beyond his understanding. Maybe after this whole thing plays out the way he planned, him and Alexis can try their hands with this whole matchmaker deal.

"Sonny." Alexis' voice interrupted his future planning.

He looked at her and noticed the wave of anxiety and concern that passed through her face. He almost forgot about the little ploy he and Kristina conjured during lunch. He thought that worrying Alexis about Stefan might've been a bit over the top, but Kristina insisted that it's the only way Alexis would ever agree to go away with him, without actually knowing it. "Sorry I'm late," he said.

"Yeah, about that, um, well, family emergency came up and I really can't talk right now."

"Is everything ok?"

"Actually, no, it's Stefan... Kristina received a call and well, this leads me to my next question. I got a favour to ask..."

"Hey, whatever you need. I mean, I know Stefan and the Cassadines are well connected and all, but you know, if you need anything, you know I'm here."

"I wouldn't ask unless I'm desperate, but, Jax is out on business and Ned is gone for the same reason and well, Nikolas is somewhere with Gia, and um, that leaves me with my final resort which is... you."

Sonny gave her a sideways glance.

"I have no way of getting to Milan, and god knows a commercial flight would take too long and..."

"You can use my jet."

"I mean, I wouldn't even ask if I.. I wouldn't want to be a bother."

"Hey, it's Stefan we're talking about here, he's family. Plus, I was actually just on my way there too, I got some business to take care of..."

Alexis raised an eyebrow, "Huh, I wasn't aware that you had business in Milan."

"Well, it's nothing yet actually. More like a future thing I'm trying to secure."

The impassive truth in Sonny's words forced a chuckle out of Kristina. Alexis looked at her sister suspiciously.

"It's settled then," Kristina exclaimed. "Thank you so much Sonny." She looked at Alexis, "I actually have to stick around for a bit and finish up some things for L&B but as soon as I finish it, I'll be on my way to see Stefan.

C'mon, I'll help you pack."

"Well, ok, I guess I'll see you in 20 minutes. I mean, is that enough for you to fix your things and all."

"Yeah, I'll just throw a couple of suits in there and I'm all set. Thank you again Sonny. You don't know how much this means to me."

He simply nodded his head and turned on his heel. "I'll see you in a bit." With that, he closed the door and sighed. 'Alexis took the bait,' he thought to himself. Now to put his plan into action. He took his cel phone out of the inner breast pocket of his jacket and dialed a number. "Yeah, Jason, is everything set? Ok, thanks, we'll be there in half an hour."

~************~

Alexis was up and about in her room sifting through her closet while Kristina sat on the foot of her bed.

"Um, shouldn't you be packing too Kristina?"

"I'm a light packer."

Alexis pulled out a charcoal gray suit and a white blouse. "Um, are you going to go there for a business meeting?" Kristina asked with sarcasm.

"No."

"I thought so. You're there to see Stefan, so what's with the suit?"

"You're right, I'm just so used to packing my suits every time I go somewhere with Sonny, I tend to forget."

Kristina walked towards the closet and pulled out a deep red ensemble. "This would be perfect, just in case, you know, you have to do some formal royalty thing for Stefan."

"That's highly unlikely."

"A girl can never be too sure. You never know what'll come up." She gave Alexis a little wink.

"Ok, am I missing something here?"

"What are you talking about?"

"What's with the looks, and the giggles downstairs with Sonny. When did you two become the best of friends?"

"Let's just say that Sonny and I have come to an understanding. What's with the third degree anyways. I mean, weren't you the one who wanted me and him to get along in the first place."

"Yeah, but... nevermind."

She sifted through the closet some more. "Ah! Perfect!" She pulled out a yellow cashmere pull-over and a pair of jeans. "Ok, now we got formal and casual covered, and now we need... sleepwear!"

"Check." Alexis said pulling out the white silk pyjama set out of her dresser drawer. "Now the toothbrush and the nightly face stuff and I'm all set." She made her way to her bathroom as Kristina placed the last article of clothing inside her suit case. She waited until Alexis was gone from sight as she sneakily replaced the white silk pyjama ensemble with a black silk nightie. "This oughta spin that little mobster's head." Kristina packed the nightie at the bottom of the suit case and zipped it shut. Alexis came back with toothbrush in hand and a bunch of nightly cremes.

"Thanks again Kristina. I'm just so worried about Stefan. Did the person you spoke to say anything else?"

"Nope, nothing more than what I told you."

~********~

Johnny opened the door to Sonny's limo and out came Sonny, Kristina then Alexis. Jason approached them.

"Jason!?" Alexis exclaimed. "What are you doing here?"

"Alexis, Sonny." He looked at Kristina.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I haven't properly introduced the two of you. Jason, this is my long lost sister, Kristina Cassadine. Kristina, this is the Quartermaine turned enforcer... um, Ned's cousin and Sonny's business partner, Jason Morgan."

The two looked at each other and shook hands.

"Nice to finally meet you." Jason said politely.

"Likewise." Kristina smiled back.

Sonny watched in awe and was more convinced now more than ever to persue the whole matchmaker thing after he and Alexis got back from their little trip.

The four stood there in silence until Alexis finally spoke. "I hate to break this party, but Sonny, could we go."

"Um, yeah." He turned to Jason, "Is everything in place?"

"Yeah, everything's been arranged as you asked."

He looked at Alexis, "Well, shall we?"

Alexis nodded and gave Kristina a quick hug and a kiss on the forehead. "You be there as soon as your done ok. I'm sure Stefan would want to see you too."

"Yes, I'll be right behind you."

She turned back to Sonny, nodded at Jason and walked towards Johnny and the jet. Sonny followed right behind her, placing his palm at the small of her back. He turned around to the pair that stood side by side behind him. Jason smiled and gave him a wink, and Kristina mouthed of the words, 'Good luck.' He smiled at the two people who made it all happen and headed towards the jet with Alexis, to a night of wooing, a night of confessions, and a night that would decide their fate.
